The name Just is one of the most traditional in Ferlach. The name Just appears in the first gunsmith directories; the company was founded in 1790 and was family-owned for 9 generations until it closed in 2012 after 222 years.
After an eventful history in the 18th and 19th centuries, which also had an impact on the entire town and the gunsmiths based there, production was gradually increased in the 20th century. After the Wall was built in Germany, Just increased the number of units significantly in order to serve the West German market, and then after the fall of the Wall it focused entirely on high-quality weapons, which meant that production fell to less than 20 weapons per year, but the quality was correspondingly high.
