Barrel length 20 cm (8"), overall length 32 cm (12,6"), weight 1,01 kg, year of manufacture 1917, no proof, condition 2-3.
Gothic letters as acceptances on the right, matching numbers (except magazine) as far as visible, very good barrel, matching folding magazine with wooden base, nice original finish with minor traces of use in the usual places, very well maintained weapon.
Collector's weapon without (valid) proof, transferred for storage due to its art or collectible value.
Introduced before WWI as armament for German field artillery for close quarters defense from their firing positions (a carbine was considered too unwieldy for this type of weapon), the weapon gained great importance for infantry in WWI trench and positional combat as well. As with artillery, it was used with a holster stock in the manner of a carbine; during the war, a 32-round drum magazine was added.
