Barrel length 12.8 cm, no proof, condition 2-3.
Classic US service weapon, phosphated original finish, typical left side slide inscription with patent dates and logo "Colt Foals". Except for a small dent on the left side of the slide edge, near mint condition. Very good barrel. The Colt Government was for 8 decades the service pistol of the US Armed Forces and beyond that introduced in many states worldwide, which received it as an American supply. In the Austrian Army, for example, it was introduced as "11,43 mm Pistole 11".
In 1846/47 Samuel Colt designed his first production-ready revolvers, still with percussion ignition. In 1848 the first factory was built and Colt has been one of the most important manufacturers of revolvers ever since. But it was not until the designs of J.M. Browning (Mod. 1895 and M1911) and Eugene Stoner (M16) that Colt celebrated its greatest commercial successes, becoming one of the standard bearers of the US armed forces. In the meantime, Colt has become a part of the CZ Group.
