Founded in 1967 by Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli, the Fabbrica Armi di Mario Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli was established in Gardone, in the Trompia Valley, which is known for gun manufacturing. While in the first decade of the company's history they had produced a wide range of qualities, they finally decided to focus exclusively on high quality and custom made shotguns. This success was accompanied by the Bulino engravings, which were becoming more and more popular for collector's guns at that time. Among the technical highlights of FAMARS history are the cock shotguns developed by Mario Abbiatico. His passion gave birth to the first cock double shotguns combined with self-cocking function, ejectors and single trigger. Also world famous is the Quattrocanne, a four barrel shotgun with a combination of cock locks with recoil springs for the upper barrels and Anson & Deeley box locks for the lower barrels. Then as now in family ownership, FAMARS is emblematic of the art of shotgun making and engraving from Italy.
