hammer-break action rifle Miller & Val. Greiss - München cal. 11,15 x 60 R serial #5701

Starting price 800 EUR
Result:
1.300 EUR

barrel length 66,5 cm (26,25"), stock length 34 cm (13,25"), total length 107 cm (42"), weight 3,3 kg, no proof marks visible, condition III-IV.
The heavy octagonal barrel with sights inserted in dovetails (rear sight with an additional folding blade and front sight) bears the name of the manufacturer engraved in a banner at the top behind the rear sight, the well-known Munich company Miller & Valentin Greiss, which is documented from about 1870. The barrel with right-turning four groove rifling is set up for the German Mauser cartridge M.71 and is tilted by means of a long lever at the bottom. The trigger is designed as a double set trigger. On the top of the stock wirst is the receiver for a rear sight. Bascule, lock and trigger guard are engraved with arabesques. The walnut stock with German cheek piece has a steel cap and a hand rest made of bone. The condition of the metal parts is original, but partially spotted and fine-grained, the barrel condition first class. Overall an interesting and attractive target or hunting rifle from around 1880/90.
