Mauserwerke in Oberndorf am Neckar had taken over the production of the Parabellum pistol from Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) in Berlin in the mid-1930s, along with the associated machinery. Production for the Wehrmacht at Mauser continued until 1942, when the P08 was largely replaced by the Walther P38 as the standard pistol of the German Forces.
