Bolt not matching numbers, good original finish, barrel still good, with stab bayonet. The Mosin-Nagant bolt action rifle system is one of the three leading military bolt action rifle systems in the history of arms, along with the Mauser 98 and Lee-Enfield systems. The Russian Colonel Mosin designed the bolt and the Belgian Nagant the magazine. The present specimen is a very special piece, as it was manufactured in the USA for Russia as an assistance shipment during the First World War.
The history of Remington began in 1816, when Eliphalet Remington II wanted to build better weapons than were available for sale at the time. In 1845, they began producing military rifles, and in 1857, revolvers. In 1910, the company merged with ammunition manufacturer Union Metallic Cartridges (UMC) and became Remington Arms UMC & Co. Through acquisitions of smaller gun manufacturers, Remington developed into one of the leading manufacturers of handguns and handguns in the USA. Today, the company is headquartered in Madison, North Carolina.
