muzzle loading revolver Colt Pocket Modell 1849 cal. 31 Vorderlader serial #7278

Starting price 2.000 EUR
Result:
2.600 EUR

Barrel length 15 cm (6), overall length 28 cm (11"), weight 0,75 kg, year of manufacture 1849, British proof, condition II-III.
The octagonal barrel is blued, frame, hammer and bullet seater are colour case hardened, smooth walnut grip panels. Very early piece, corresponding to serial number of 1849. Inscription "ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON" on top of barrel, "COLT'S PATENT" on left side of frame, also with serial number on cylinder, this shallowly engraved with stagecoach robbery motif. The serial number occurs a total of 5 times: on the barrel, on the cylinder, on the frame, and twice on the grip. A majority of the guns made for the English market were shipped in oak caskets that contained, in addition to the gun, a cleaning rod, a gun key, ball casting tongs, an English Dixon powder flask, and an Eley primer box. Our ensemble is missing only the primer box, the bullet tongs are also signed "COLT'S PATENT". The present red velvet lined case with vacant brass plate on lid additionally contains some primers (not mailable), two spare pistons and bullets, the key is present. Inside on lid the original loading and cleaning instructions in English on glued-in label. Almost complete, very well preserved ensemble.
