Scheiring was founded in the 1960s, when Helmut Scheiring took over Düsel's company, where he himself worked. Like many of his colleagues, Helmut Scheiring sought economic well-being in expanding the number of pieces. His son Herbert, who was not satisfied with this path, used his sales skills after taking over the business from his father, who was in the meantime ill, to expand it further, and his passion for hunting to channel the needs of his exclusive customers into the world-famous break-barrel rifles. About 20-25 of the precision rifles are produced annually.
