Starting price 39.000 EUR
Result:
40.000 EUR

barrel length 71 cm (28"), stock length 36 cm (14"), total length 114 cm (45"), choke 1/2 & 3/4 (M & IM), weight 3,4 kg, year of manufacture 1970, Italian proof, condition 2-3
Demibloc barrels made of Böhler Super Blitz, ventilated engine-turned rib with brass front sight, ejectors, color case hardened base, side bolted action similar to Woodward, back-action sidelocks, sear, cocking indicator, fine edge engraving signed "F. Iora Inc." for master engraver Ferruccio Iora, sliding tang safety deactivated, non-switchable pulse-controlled single trigger, well grained walnut stock, fine checkering, pistol grip, rubber recoil pad, blank gold monogram plate, fore-end with Anson push-rod in the concise manufacturer's typical style, in manufacturer's leather case with trade label.
This specimen is proof of the value of true craftsmanship: Built over 50 years ago, definitely used, with adequate signs of wear. Nevertheless, the gap dimensions are perfect, all transitions of wood and metal are flat and the sidelocks / action is like the rest of the mechanics still perfect as when it was delivered from the factory.
Today, when people talk about top guns, best guns, the story often goes hand in hand with English ancestry and a history that spans generations and even the century. That of Ivo Fabbri is completely different and at the same time outstanding like no other. Born in 1928, the technical genius was working in the automotive industry for FIAT when Daniel Perazzi finally called on him to manufacture and optimize his shotguns. In 1964, the Italian Ennio Matarelli won the gold medal in the trap competition at the Tokyo Olympics with a Fabbri-Perazzi MX8. The success caused a worldwide sensation. Fabbri himself, driven to implement his own creative ideas, finally went into business for himself in Brescia in 1964. In the following decades, he influenced an entire generation with his shotguns. Every material used has been further optimized over the years, whether barrel steel, woods or small parts. Today, removable pinless sidelocks and titanium systems are directly associated with Fabbri. His demand for perfection runs through the entire development process. Everything that is useful for this process is used. Components and even tooling are manufactured in-house. The design language of the shotguns has enormous recognition value. Fabbri quickly realized that the claim of technical perfection can only be underlined even more holistically by that of artistic perfection. Since then, the best engravers in Italy have immortalized their work on the baskets of the Brescian luxury forge. In the beginning, the company also produced cross-barreled shotguns, but later it only produced buck shotguns. Collectors from prominent circles (such as Steven Spielberg or Eric Clapton) appreciate the quality and dedication to the craft. The business was strengthened by the next generation of the family, Tullio and Ivo Jr. Nevertheless, due to the enormous demand and the self-restriction to the highest quality, the waiting time has long been pushed to several years. Ivo Fabbri passed away in 2021 - with his work he has shaped the evolution and perception of shotguns since the late 20th century like hardly anyone else.
